
On Wednesday, January 6, 2021 supporters of Donald Trump stormed the United States Capitol building in Washington D.C. For many Americans, these events took place in the middle of their work day. When major events occur, as they have so many times in the last few years, it’s tempting for managers and business leaders to act as though nothing happened. This may come from uncertainty about how to address it or belief that it’s not relevant to the kind of work their company or team does. But if there’s a lesson to be learned from 2020, it’s that treating these situations like they’re business as usual doesn’t work. How should leaders respond?
